Testing Poster on Palm Pre

I’m posting this to test out Poster, an app that lets me post to WordPress blogs from my Palm Pre.

I can add images, bold text, underline, and italicize. Also, add links like this: Don’t Be Stupid. And that’s it – will be interesting to see  how useful it is. So far seems easy enough to use.

(Update: The image didn’t insert right, although it did upload. It had to be resized significantly, of course, to fit the post. I must have done something wrong, because there’s no reason to have thie upload in the app if you can’t do anything with the image from your phone.)

  • Thanks for the demo. So when you upload or attach an image, it doesn’t “crunch” it like WP does?

  • Not that I can tell — it should though, so maybe I’m missing something.

I should add, there’s a pretty limited use case for Poster on the Pre. I’m not going to do much significant blogging using the tiny thumboard. However, I”m hoping that, as with all Palm products before it, Palm or some third party will soon have a keyboard to use with the Pre. Then Poster becomes much more useful.

  • Thanks for the reply. I think the image uploading is one of the biggest issues for me. My blog has to have some kind of image on each post so the site doesn’t look broken…so I this option is a must for me. Thanks again.

  • Just tested poster too. It’s uploading images to my blog (self hosted), but they’re not making it into the post either. I think the app must be broken.

  • …although the images do show up in posts on my WordPress.com hosted site. Lame.

  • can I use Poster to make new entries to my blog or just to edit existing ones?

  • Both, if I recall correctly. To be honest, without external keyboard support on the Palm Pre, I don’t see myself blogging from it very often! That was always such an awesome thing about Palm PDAs, that you could add an external keyboard and do real work, but for some reason Palm has avoided this with the new devices.

  • I’ve had my Pre because shortly immediately after launch and am glad to get (by means of this forum) that I can now set a ring tone on incoming text messages and can seek as a result of e-mails and this kind of. Now is there any hope for an upcoming release in which I can seek my calendar? Would make my work a lot less complicated, locating dates of final appointments. No other complaints, except that yesterday I had been in and out of Sprint assistance (not unusual). I feel I was roaming, and looked at my calendar. Every little thing inside the calendar was one hour earlier than what I had input. The clock was one hour early as nicely. I was scared to death–then, after we got back into Sprint assistance once again, almost everything was normalized. Has this happened to anybody else?? Hunting forward to answers, but please bear in mind, I’m no techie and speak English as opposed to technospeak.
